The Holmesburg Civic Association is inviting the community to attend an upcoming court hearing related to a proposed methadone clinic at 7520 State Road.
Attorney Frank Bennett, representing neighbors opposed to the clinic, will make an oral argument in Common Pleas Court on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 10 a.m. in room 426 of City Hall.
Bennett, who is working pro bono, filed a legal brief on Dec. 6.
In April, the Zoning Board of Adjustment approved a bid by NorthEast Treatment Centers to open a clinic on State Road. The Holmesburg and Mayfair civic associations, along with some State Road businesses, oppose the facility and are appealing.
The issue will be discussed at the next meeting of the Holmesburg Civic Association, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 7:15 p.m. at Holmesburg Recreation Center, at Rhawn and Ditman streets. ••
