Students in kindergarten through eighth grade worked on specific projects.

The projects included the students making fleece blankets for Project Linus, which donates the blankets to children who are ill. Students also made gift bags for Northwood neighbors and the patients of Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

One class participated in the Lex Beacon Project, which is one part of the Classroom Champions program. The project had students create beacons, similar to a GPS location device, that guided paralympian Lex Gillette through Olympic training courses. ••

The brown bag houses were filled with items to make hot chocolate and delivered to neighbors.

Helping hands: At left, first-graders Jordan Centeno and Mia Sanchez hold up blankets they will donate to cancer patients and their families, as part of Northwood Academy Charter’s Service Day.
