Man charged in Frankford killing

Michael Ciaccia, 28, of Frankford, has been charged with murder in connection to the killing of a 70-year-old man on Fillmore Street.

A man was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder in connection with the slaying of a 70-year-old man whose body was found May 9 in a Frankford apartment.

Michael L. Ciaccia, 28, of the 1600 block of Fillmore Street, is facing a litany of charges, including homicide, false imprisonment, robbery, tampering with evidence and abusing a corpse. He was taken into custody at police headquarters on Race Street.

Robert Derer’s body was found in a storage container on the 1600 block of Fillmore Thursday, May 9, after family members reported him missing.

Ciaccia was denied bail and is being held at the jail complex on State Road, according to court records.

Two others, Andrew Ciaccia, 25, and Vanessa Pena, 21, had previously been charged tampering, conspiracy, obstruction and abuse of a corpse in connection with Derer’s death. ••
