U.S. Marshals shot a man who was wielding a machete Wednesday morning near Wissinoming Park, police said.
The officers from the U.S. Marshals Service stopped a man they were watching around 8:15 a.m. on the 5900 block of Charles Street. Authorities said the man got out of his car armed with a machete.
He was ordered to drop the weapon, and was tasered by the officers when he refused, according to police. The man ran into a back alley, and the U.S. Marshals fired several shots, authorities said.
The man was taken by police to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition with gunshot wounds to the right shoulder and the upper left side of his back, police said. ••
