Concert series continues Friday

The Danube Swabian Association, 1277 Southampton Road in Somerton, will be holding its free outdoor summer concert series on two upcoming Friday nights.

Connolly and Murphy (Irish music) will perform on June 14, followed by the Cardinal Dougherty Alumni Band on June 28.

The public is invited. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase starting at 6 p.m. The concerts start at 7 p.m. Call 215-722-4253. ••

New voting machines at meeting

The Burholme Community Town Watch and Civic Association will meet on Thursday, June 13, at 7 p.m. at Wesley Enhanced Living, 7040 Oxford Ave.

The city election commissioners office will present a demonstration on the new ExpressVote XL machines that will be used in the November general election. ••

Community fest on Saturday

The Oxford Circle Christian Community Development Association and Catholic Community Services will sponsor World Food Fair & Community Fest on Saturday, June 15, at 900 E. Howell St.

Activities include a flea market (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.), fun run (9 to 10:30 a.m.) kids fun zone (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and world food (11 a.m. to 1 p.m.).

Women’s business workshop

WOGL (98.1 FM) morning co-host Marilyn Russell will be the keynote speaker at SCORE Bucks County’s third annual Women Building Businesses workshop on June 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Parx Casino, 2999 Street Road, in Bensalem.

The event will begin with networking, followed by a panel discussion with five local female entrepreneurs. Russell will moderate the panel as speakers answer questions. Roundtable discussions will follow. The cost is $35 and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. For information, go to buckscounty.score.org ••

Graveyard tour Wednesday night

All Saints’ Church, 9601 Frankford Ave., will host a graveyard tour on Wednesday, June 12, at 7 p.m.

The tour is titled Chemistry in the Graveyard. Visitors will learn of the major chemical manufacturers from Colonial times to the 20th century who are buried in the graveyard. Archaeologist and restorationist Seth Gartland will explain the chemicals used in the restoration of gravestones.

Donations to restore the graveyard are welcome. The rain date in June 19. Call 215-637-8787. ••

Yard sale on Saturday to help local church

Redemption Lutheran Church, 8001 Bustleton Ave. (at Rhawn Street), will host a yard sale on Saturday, June 15, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Multiple families and individuals have donated items for sale. All proceeds benefit the ministries of Redemption Lutheran Church. ••

Friends of Pennypack Park to host nature walk

Friends of Pennypack Park will hold its monthly nature and history walk on Sunday, June 16, at 1 p.m.

Walkers will meet at the park entrance on Winchester Avenue at Axe Factory Road. The 1½-mile walk will end at Bell’s Corner, pausing to see many natural features along the way. The walk will be mostly on rough paths. The rain date is June 23. Call 215-934-PARK. ••

Senior expo to be held at Lincoln HS

U.S. Rep. Brendan Boyle will sponsor a senior expo on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln High School, 3201 Ryan Ave. The event will include health screenings, more than 100 vendors and a light lunch. Call 215-335-3355. ••

Discard your damaged, distressed flags

The American Legion William D. Oxley Post 133, 4637 Decatur St. (at Torresdale Avenue), is accepting damaged and distressed American and POW/MIA flags. The public is invited to drop off flags in the mailbox outside the post’s entrance. The flags will be retired at a dignified ceremony on Saturday, June 15. ••

Free mattresses available for breast cancer patients and survivors

The United Breast Cancer Foundation is inviting female and male breast cancer patients and survivors to apply for free Tempur-Pedic mattresses.

The twin- and queen-sized mattresses and goody bags of makeup, clothing and other products will be distributed on Saturday, June 15, at a site in Hatboro.

The original application deadline of June 10 has been extended.

Town hall and health fair on Saturday

State Reps. Isabella Fitzgerald, Jared Solomon and Jason Dawkins will sponsor a town hall and health fair on Saturday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lawncrest Recreation Center, 6000 Rising Sun Ave.
