Man fatally stabbed at Max Myers

A 24-year-old Castor Gardens man died Sunday after being stabbed at Max Myers Playground, authorities said.

A man died Sunday afternoon after being stabbed during a soccer game at Max Myers Playground in Oxford Circle, police said.

Franklin William De Souza, 24, of the 6900 block of Horrocks Street in Castor Gardens, was lying on a field with a stab wound to the abdomen when officers responded to the scene just after 4 p.m. He was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he died around 5 p.m., police said.

A suspect was arrested, though authorities have not released their identity. The stabbing occurred during a pick-up soccer game, according to multiple media reports. 

The Homicide Division continues to investigate the killing. ••
