MaST Community Charter School was put on lockdown Thursday morning after school officials discovered a note containing a bomb threat.

Police swept the red middle school building, which was specifically targeted in the note, at MaST’s campus at 1800 E. Byberry Road, according to an email sent by CEO John Swoyer to parents.

Swoyer confirmed the contents of the email after being contacted by the Times

He said in the email that students and staff were evacuated to a multipurpose room. Officers did not find anything, and the school was cleared as safe, Swoyer said.

The situation occurred just as hundreds of students were arriving, and officers were on the scene by 7:35 a.m., according to the email.

“While we further investigate the situation, we are limited in what we can communicate regarding specific details,” Swoyer wrote. “At this point, we are investigating all leads in regards to this situation.” ••
