For the second time this month, a young man was gunned down along the same stretch of Torresdale Avenue in Holmesburg.
On Sunday night, a 20-year-old man died after being shot in the back of the head, according to authorities.
Officers responded to Shelmire and Torresdale avenues around 9:30 p.m. and found Shahib Williams suffering from a gunshot wound, authorities said.
Williams, who lived nearby, on the 4700 block of Oakmont Street, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not recover any weapons, and no arrests have been made.
The suspects, described only as two black males, were last seen heading southbound down an alleyway.
Back on Oct. 15, just blocks away, two men were shot while inside a car at Bleigh and Torresdale avenues. Isheem Campbell, 22, was killed, and the other man was injured.
Capt. John Walker, commander of the 15th Police District’s, said it’s unclear whether the shootings are related.
However, violence in the area is increasing. In August, there was a shooting in the same vicinity, and shots were fired last week on the 7400 block of Edmund Street, Walker said.
“We think it’s clearly motivated by narcotics activity in the area,” he added.
Walker said the 15th District is working to better understand the recent uptick in crime. ••
