Officers responded just after 9 p.m. Halloween night and counted 29 shell casings. A man who was sitting in his truck parked in a nearby driveway was startled as bullets struck his vehicle. Investigators say he was not the intended target.

At least three other vehicles in the area were hit by the gunfire. All of the bullets were fired from a 9mm gun, authorities said.

Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum, of Northeast Detectives, said investigators believe it’s possible that a man who showed up to the hospital hours later could be connected to the shooting.

A 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg arrived at Jefferson Frankford Hospital around 7 a.m. on Friday, Rosenbaum said. He wasn’t cooperating with police, Rosenbaum added.

The Northeast Detective Division continues to actively investigate the situation. ••
