It occurred around 2:45 a.m. at Cottman and Torresdale avenues when a Chevy Malibu blew through a red light at a high rate of speed and hit a Nissan Maxima going westbound on Cottman, according to police.

Three of the four women in the Nissan were ejected from the vehicle, and Ciara Parker, 28, of Northwest Philadelphia, a passenger in the car, died at the scene, authorities said.

A 30-year-old woman was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center in critical condition with severe head trauma and brain bleeding, police said. The 28-year-old driver suffered a fractured back and other injuries, and a 29-year-old woman in the car had a broken hip and leg.
