Crime log: March 18, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

March 2 through 15

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were eight robberies. Jacob Romero, 20, was arrested March 10 following a robbery on the street at 900 Carver St. involving a handgun. Other robberies on the street took place at 1200 E. Cheltenham Ave. (March 8), 1400 Cottman Ave. (March 11) and 7200 Calvert St. (March 14), all of which involved handguns, and a robbery of a vehicle parked at 1200 Comly St. (March 12) with a knife. Other robberies took place at a gas station at 5700 Roosevelt Blvd. (March 15), a retail location at 2300 Cottman Ave. (March 7) and a private residence at 7200 Algon Ave. (March 15). 

There were 12 aggravated assaults, which resulted in six arrests. Assaults on the street included domestic assaults at 1300 Howell St. (March 12, Khaliyl Dixon, 31), 900 Granite St. (March 13, Willie Anderson, 34) and 7900 Langdon St. (March 12), an assault with a handgun at 5700 Summerdale Ave. (March 5) and an assault with no weapon at 500 E. Cheltenham Ave. (March 8). Assaults at private residences included domestic assaults at 5900 Bennington St. (March 4, Donte Worsely, 21), 1400 Lardner St. (March 10, Susan Myers, 24), 6200 Trotter St. (March 11), an instance of child abuse at 1200 Robbins St. (March 6) and an assault with a handgun at 1300 Wells St. (March 15, Wendi Martinez, 30, and Kevin Martinez, 24). Other assaults took place at public schools at 1000 Disston St. (March 14, Ameer Watson, 18) and 1600 Cottman Ave. (March 5). 

The two reported burglaries took place at private residences at 100 Devereaux Ave. (March 12) and 900 Carver St. (March 5) as well as an attempt at a private residence at 6100 Palmetto St. (March 15).

There were 88 thefts, which targeted 43 businesses, 35 vehicles (including six stolen vehicle tags), six street thefts (including a purse snatching), two private residences and two bicycles. Ten arrests were made.

7th Police District

The three reported robberies took place on the street at 8500 Castor Ave. (March 14) with a handgun, 10000 Verree Road (March 9) and at an apartment house at 2100 Strahle St. (March 8).

There were no reported aggravated assaults.

There were six burglaries. Private residences were burglarized at 1100 Norwalk Road (March 5), 9700 Clark St. (March 12) and 2000 Sandford St. (March 12), and an apartment house at 8000 Castor Ave. was burglarized March 5. Churches were burglarized at 900 Alburger Ave. (March 14) and 8700 Krewstown Road (March 14).

There were 31 thefts, which targeted 18 vehicles, eight businesses, two street thefts, an apartment house, a doctor’s office and a factory/warehouse. Four arrests were made.

8th Police District

There were four robberies. David Guramishvili, 28, was arrested March 4 following a robbery at a private residence at 4200 Delaire Landing Road. Robberies took place on the street at 8600 Frankford Ave. (March 11) and 3100 Winchester Ave. (March 11) as well as at a bank at 3300 Grant Ave. (March 13).

There were five aggravated assaults, which took place on the street at 2900 Holme Ave. (March 15), at an apartment house at 3300 Primrose Road (March 5), at a public school at 9100 Academy Road (March 3) and at prison facilities at 8100 State Road (March 9) and 8200 State Road (March 13).

There were seven burglaries. These took place at private residences at 9300 Glenloch St. (March 11) and 3500 Carey Road (March 6) and at apartment houses at 9500 State Road (March 9), 9300 Ashton Road (March 5), 3300 Comly Road (March 7) and 9000 Wesleyan Road (March 15). A public school at 3800 Woodhaven Road was burglarized March 7.

There were 57 thefts, which targeted 28 businesses, 21 vehicles (including a stolen car phone and three stolen vehicle tags), two street thefts, two apartment houses, a private residence, a nursing/retirement home, a bicycle and an unlisted location. Eight arrests were made.

15th Police District

There were 21 robberies, which yielded seven arrests. Robberies on the street that involved handguns happened at 6900 Rowland Ave. (March 2), 1600 Dyre St. (March 3, Lowell Caple, 23 and Haseem Williams, 23), 4400 Wellington St. (March 7), 5800 Frankford Ave. (March 12) and 4700 Knorr St. (March 12); with another weapon at 4600 Richmond St. (March 14); and with no weapons at 4600 Frankford Ave. (March 2), 4800 Frankford Ave. (March 2), the intersection of Tacony and Bridge streets (March 2), the intersection of Pratt Street and Frankford Avenue (March 3, Tawfiq Ali, 19, and Jadia Dennis-Ellebre, 21), 5300 Ditman St. (March 6), 4600 Castor Ave. (March 9, Benjamin Santiago, 28), 5100 Frankford Ave. (March 10, Malik Smith, 25) and 2900 Hale St. (March 13, Michael Harris, 42) as well as at a vehicle parked at 4800 Tacony St., which involved a handgun (March 8). Other robberies took place at private residences at 5500 Harbison Ave. (March 4) and 4700 Loring St. (March 11), three times at a bank at 7300 Frankford Ave. (March 2, 11 and 12) and on a bus at 4300 Frankford Ave. (March 9).

There were 19 aggravated assaults, which yielded seven arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 6600 Keystone St. (March 2, Ramon Torres, 21), twice at 5800 Harbison Ave. (March 5), 6700 Tulip St. (March 7), 1600 Foulkrod St. (March 8, Kyshif Williams, 18), 1800 Herbert Court (March 11) and the intersection of Cottman and Torresdale avenues (March 13); an assault with a knife at 5200 Frankford Ave. (March 14, Laymond Auston, 31); domestic assaults at 4100 Greeby St. (March 12, Corey Colfer, 31) and 4600 Marple St. (March 14); and two assaults on police at 1900 Pratt St. on March 5. Domestic assaults at private residences happened at 6300 Gillespie St. (March 2, Jeremy Prince, 33), 7100 Glenloch St. (March 12) and 1300 Foulkrod St. (March 14, Ronald Jackson, 48). Other assaults took place at a retail location at 5800 Torresdale Ave. (March 2), at a bar at the intersection of Frankford and Sheffield avenues (March 7), a hospital at 4900 Frankford Ave. (March 15, Frankie Arroyo, 19) and a public school at 5300 Ditman St. (March 6). 

There were six burglaries. Michael Keeler, 46, was arrested March 11 following the burglary of an apartment house at 7000 Torresdale Ave. Burglaries happened at private residences at 1500 Deal St. (March 6), 1700 Scattergood St. (March 13), 2000 Bridge St. (March 2) and 6000 Frankford Ave. (March 14) and an apartment house at 1700 Meadow St. (March 2).

There were 86 thefts, which targeted 40 vehicles (including 11 vehicle tags), 20 businesses, 16 street thefts, six private residences, two apartment houses, a SEPTA elevated station and a public school. Five arrests were made.
