Crime log: April 15, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

March 30 through April 12

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were eight robberies, happening on the street at 1100 Alcott St. (March 30), 2100 Disston St. (April 9), 7500 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 12) and 6800 Bustleton Ave. (April 6), and at a vehicle parked at 5900 Castor Ave. (April 11). Other robberies happened at mini markets at 300 Van Kirk St. (April 8), 6600 Rising Sun Ave. (April 10) and a retail location at 5900 Rising Sun Ave. (March 31).

There were five aggravated assaults, which happened at private residences at 1100 Alcott St. (April 9) and 2000 Hartel Ave. (April 4), on the street at 5900 Alma St. (April 3) and 500 Adams Ave. (April 4), and a food store at 900 Levick St. (April 1).

There were six burglaries and one attempt. Private residences were burglarized at 1500 Benner St. (April 8), 7400 Lawndale St. (April 11) and an attempt at 500 Van Kirk St. (April 4). Restaurants were targeted at 6900 Rising Sun Ave., 6400 Rising Sun Ave. and 5600 Rising Sun Ave., all on March 30, and a bank at 6500 Castor Ave. was burglarized April 10.

There were 58 thefts, which targeted 24 vehicles (including three stolen vehicle tags), 21 businesses, nine street thefts and four private residences. One arrest was made.

7th Police District

There were four robberies, which resulted in four arrests. Henry Leighton, 21, and Joseph Moliere, 20, were arrested April 3 following a robbery on the street at 10900 Bustleton Ave. Stephen Jones, 58, was arrested April 5 following a robbery of a drug store at 8100 Roosevelt Blvd. with a knife, and Sean Benales, 28, was arrested March 31 following a robbery of a chain food store at 1900 Welsh Road. A robbery also happened on the street at the intersection of Hendrix Street and Bustleton Avenue on April 12.

There were five aggravated assaults, which resulted in three arrests. Jared Cooper, 18, was arrested following an assault with a handgun on the street at 700 Red Lion Road. Anthony Ianelli, 26, was arrested April 9 following an assault with a handgun on the street at 1400 Rhawn St. Latasha Weddington, 34, was arrested March 30 following a domestic assault at an apartment house at 13600 Philmont Ave. Other assaults took place at a private residence at 9700 Cowden St. (April 7) and on the street at 2600 Southampton Road (April 10).

There were four burglaries. Alex Fernandez-Pena, 30, and Oscar Ynoa, 26, were arrested March 31 following a burglary of a private residence at 8500 Benton Ave. Other burglaries took place at private residences at 10800 Nandina Lane (April 12) and 9700 Evans St. (April 5) and at a restaurant at 8000 Roosevelt Blvd. (April 2).

There were 28 thefts, which targeted 13 vehicles (including a stolen car phone), eight businesses, three street thefts, a private residence, an apartment house, a bicycle and a nursing/retirement home.

8th Police District

There were two robberies. Bryan Dingle, 31, and William Mitchell, 19, were arrested April 7 following the robbery of an apartment house at 9500 James St. with a handgun. A robbery on the street at 11000 Knights Road involving a handgun occurred on April 8.

Two aggravated assaults happened on the street at 9200 Roosevelt Blvd. on April 7 and at a prison facility at 8100 State Road on April 7.

Two burglaries targeted a commercial garage at 200 Franklin Mills Circle on March 30 and a gas station at 12000 Roosevelt Blvd. on April 11.

There were 40 thefts, which targeted 17 vehicles (including a stolen car phone and three stolen vehicle tags), 16 businesses, two street thefts including a purse snatching, two private residences, a storage facility, a commercial garage and an unlisted location.

15th Police District

There were 16 robberies, which resulted in seven arrests. Robberies on the street happened at 5400 Erdrick St. (April 1), 2000 Bridge St. (April 3), 3300 Guilford St. (April 6) and 2800 Stevens St. (April 7), all of which involved handguns, and at 5300 Bustleton Ave. (March 31, Robert Bryant, 31, and Edwin Quinones, 31) and 4400 Robbins St. (April 11), which involved no weapons. Robberies at businesses happened at chain stores at 5800 Torresdale Ave. and 5200 Oxford Ave. (March 30 and April 2, respectively, with Jaleel Lumb, 19, and Clarence Wilkins, 22, arrested in connection with both), chain stores at 6600 Roosevelt Blvd. (March 31, Ryan Lorenski, 44), 2500 Church St. (March 31), 1600 Bridge St. (April 6, Michelle Reid, 49), a drugstore at 6500 Harbison Ave. (April 4, Victor Bykovski, 25) and a restaurant at 5800 Torresdale Ave. (April 4). Other robberies happened at a private residence at 5400 Walker St. (April 3), a purse snatching at 2200 Bridge St. (April 11) and an unspecified location at 5200 Frankford Ave. (April 11). 

There were 14 aggravated assaults, which resulted in three arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 1600 Wakeling St. (April 4), twice at 6100 Hawthorne St. (April 1, Hanif Byard, 18), twice at 5900 Jackson St. (April 8, James Collins, 32) and 4800 Tacony St. (April 9). Assaults on the street with knives happened at 6100 Marsden St. (March 31), 1800 Kinsey St. (April 2) and 7200 Walker St. (April 8), and an assault on police at 1600 Wakeling St. (April 4). Assaults at private residences happened at 7000 Erdrick St. (April 5, Joseph Duffy, 41), 4500 Frankford Ave. (March 31), 4400 Oakland St. (April 6) and 6200 Mershon St. (April 7).

There were 10 burglaries. Colleal Cottom, 33, was arrested following two burglaries at a private residence at 5200 Sylvester St. on April 10. Other burglaries happened at private residences at 7100 Cottage St. (March 30), 5300 Hedge St. (March 31), auto parts stores at 6400 Frankford Ave. (April 2) and 5200 Unruh Ave. (April 2), a retail location at 3500 Cottman Ave. (April 6), a food store at 5000 Frankford Ave. (April 2), a restaurant at 7300 Frankford Ave. (April 3) and on the street at 6300 Frankford Ave. (April 9).

There were 79 thefts, which targeted 34 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and 10 stolen vehicle tags), 18 businesses, 15 street thefts (including a purse snatching and a pickpocketing), five private residences, three bicycles, a SEPTA elevated station, a commercial garage, a mental institution and an unlisted location.
