Crime log: July 8, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

June 22 through July 5

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were five robberies. Incidents on the street with handguns happened at 6300 Elmhurst St. (June 26), 7900 Summerdale Ave. (June 28) and at a vehicle parked at 5900 Oxford Ave. (July 3), and there was a robbery with no weapon at 900 Levick St. (July 2). A private residence at 6100 Alma St. was robbed July 3.

There were 12 aggravated assaults, which resulted in two arrests. Judy Battle, 25, was arrested June 26 following a domestic assault at an apartment house at 1400 Stirling St., and Jaclyn Williams, 32, was arrested June 30 after an assault with a weapon at a private residence at 800 Levick St. Assaults on the street happened at 6000 Castor Ave. (June 24), 700 Garland St. (July 1) and the intersection of Castor and Shelmire avenues (July 5), all of which involved handguns; and 500 Adams Ave. (June 22), 6000 Shisler St. (June 28), 7300 Montour St. (June 23) and 500 E. Hill Creek Drive (June 28). Domestic assaults at private residences happened at 900 Granite St. (June 24), the intersection of Large and Levick streets (July 1) and 600 Mayfair St. (July 1).

There were six burglaries, which targeted private residences at 500 W. Hill Creek Drive (June 27), 6100 Loretto Ave. (June 30) and 800 Levick St. (July 2). Other burglaries happened at an apartment house at 7100 Oxford Ave. (June 27), a gas station at 1100 Cottman Ave. (July 2) and an unlisted location at 400 Levick St. (June 30).

There were 43 thefts, which targeted 16 businesses, 15 vehicles (including three stolen vehicle tags), seven street thefts, two bicycles, two private residences and an apartment house. Two arrests were made.

7th Police District

There was a robbery at a chain hardware store at 11700 Bustleton Ave. on July 3.

Three aggravated assaults took place on the street at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Byberry Road (June 25) with a handgun, 9900 Bustleton Ave. (June 25) and the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Tomlinson Road (July 3). 

A private residence at 2000 Gorman St. was burglarized June 22, and an unlisted location at 10600 Roosevelt Blvd. was burglarized June 25. There was a burglary attempt at an apartment house at 2100 Grant Ave. on June 25.

There were 18 thefts, which targeted 10 vehicles (including four stolen vehicle tags), three businesses, two street thefts, two rooming houses/shelters and a commercial garage.

8th Police District

There were no reported robberies.

Frank D. O’Brien, 54, and Margeret Toklish, 53, were arrested July 3 following an aggravated assault at a private residence at 3500 Solly Ave. involving a handgun. Other assaults took place on the street at 9400 Roosevelt Blvd. (June 30) that involved a handgun and a domestic assault at 9600 Ashton Road (June 29). There was a domestic assault at an apartment house at 4600 Blakiston St. on June 22.

A restaurant at 300 Franklin Mills Circle was burglarized July 4.

There were 25 thefts, which targeted 13 vehicles (including two stolen car phones), nine businesses, a private residence, an apartment house and an unlisted location. Four arrests were made.

15th Police District

There were seven robberies. Terrance Strickland, 44, was arrested July 4 after a robbery of a vehicle parked at 4900 Frankford Ave. Robberies on the street happened at 5200 Frankford Ave. (June 26), 6300 Frankford Ave. (June 24) and 4700 Leiper St. (June 29), and at vehicles parked at 3000 Fanshawe St. (June 24) with a handgun and 6100 Keystone St. (June 25). A private residence at 4100 Levick St. was robbed July 1.

There were 16 aggravated assaults, which resulted in five arrests. Assaults on the street included domestic assaults at 1600 Brill St. (June 25, Jennifer Kodroff, 30), twice at 4400 Marple St. (June 29, Nelson Kelly-Cuello, 30) and 4700 Oxford Ave. (June 27); assaults with handguns happened at 2900 Longshore Ave. (July 5) and twice at 5300 Sylvester St. (June 27); an assault with a knife happened at 2000 Wilmot St. (June 25); assaults with other weapons happened at 2300 Orthodox St. (June 29, Russell Fisher, 55) and 6300 Algard St. (July 5) and an assault with no weapon happened at 4200 Torresdale Ave. (June 23). Assaults at private residences happened at 4700 Hawthorne St. (June 24, Ashley Lopez, 22), 4300 Vista St. (July 4), 2000 Bridge St. (July 3) and 6500 Vandike St. (July 3), and at an apartment house at 4400 Sheffield Ave. (July 5, Michael A. Rodgers, 59). 

There were nine burglaries. Robert Matrisciano, 47, was arrested June 25 following a burglary at a private residence at 7100 Tulip St. Other burglaries took place at apartment houses at 2200 Kennedy St. (June 27) and twice at 1300 Foulkrod St. (July 1 and 2), at private residences at 1900 Bridge St. (June 26) and 4700 Oakmont St. (July 4), at retail locations at 4300 Frankford Ave. (June 22) and 6000 Harbison Ave. (June 26) and at a rooming house/shelter at 1900 Bridge St. (July 3).

There were 66 thefts, which targeted 27 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and 13 stolen vehicle tags), 14 street thefts, 13 private residences, 10 businesses and two apartment houses. Five arrests were made.
