Crime log: Aug. 12, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

July 20 through Aug. 2

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd Police District

There were five robberies, taking place on the street at 700 Adams Ave. (July 28), 6700 Bustleton Ave. (July 25) and 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 27). Chain stores were robbed at 6400 Rising Sun Ave. (July 23) and 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 29). 

There were 16 aggravated assaults, resulting in seven arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened four times at 7300 Elgin Ave. (July 23) and 1000 Tyson Ave. (July 24), with knives at 6100 Alma St. (July 20) and 900 E. Godfrey Ave. (Aug. 2, Jonathan Medina, 27), and assaults with other weapons at 1400 Knorr St. (July 25, Odyssa Bey, 30) and 6300 Oxford Ave. (July 26). Assaults at private residences happened at 600 Magee Ave. (July 22, Karina Toapanta, 24), 7100 Kindred St. (July 24, Manhbanvan Nguyen, 58), twice at 7000 Lynford St. (July 28, Amer Williams, 26) and 5900 Bennington St. (July 27). Other assaults took place at a video store at 6900 Oakland St. (July 29, James Boyle, 73) and a domestic assault at an apartment house at 5900 Belden St. (July 20, Lucas Rodriguez, 29). 

There were nine burglaries and one attempt. Anayah Madison, 19, was arrested Aug. 2 following the burglary of a private residence at 5800 Rising Sun Ave., and Joshua Denofa, 40, was arrested July 29 following the burglary of a retail location at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. Burglaries at apartment houses happened at 1000 Magee Ave. (July 28), 400 E. Cheltenham Ave. (Aug. 2) and 500 E. Hill Creek Drive (July 23), and at private residences at 2100 Faunce St. (July 29) and 1200 Faunce St. (July 27) as well as an attempt at a private residence at 7900 Fox Run Lane (Aug. 1). Other burglaries took place at a bank at 6300 Castor Ave. (July 21) and a day care facility at 6200 Palmetto St. (July 27). 

There were 59 thefts, which targeted 24 vehicles (including a stolen car phone and five stolen vehicle tags), 23 businesses, nine street thefts and three private residences. Five arrests were made.

7th Police District

There were no reported robberies.

Aggravated assaults happened on the street at 11500 Roosevelt Blvd. on July 25 with a handgun, and at 8500 Rising Sun Ave. on July 20 with another weapon.

There were no reported burglaries.

There were 20 thefts, which targeted seven vehicles (including a stolen car tag), five businesses, four street thefts, a private residence, an apartment house, a commercial garage and a bicycle. One arrest was made.

8th Police District

There were no reported robberies.

There were six aggravated assaults, which included an assault with a knife at a private residence at 8000 Leon St. (Aug. 1) and domestic assaults at private residences at 3500 Kyle Road (Aug. 2) and 2600 Tremont St. (July 25). Other assaults happened on the street at 2600 Holme Ave. (July 26) with a handgun and 3800 Red Lion Road (July 24) with a weapon, and at a prison facility at 8300 State Road (July 30).

There were 10 burglaries, which took place at private residences at 9200 Treaty Road (July 23) and 3300 Red Lion Road (July 28) and apartment houses at 1100 Stewards Way (July 21) and 8000 Walker St. (July 27). Other assaults happened at chain retail locations at 2500 Grant Ave. (July 31) and 9100 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 30), a gas station at 9400 Roosevelt Blvd. (July 30), a bar/distributor at 400 Franklin Mills Circle (July 21), a restaurant at 2400 Welsh Road (July 23) and a state liquor store at 9200 Frankford Ave. (July 21).

There were 27 thefts, which targeted 10 businesses, nine vehicles (including two stolen vehicle tags), three private residences, two street thefts, a storage facility, a hotel/motel and a nursing home. One arrest was made.

15th Police District

There were 10 robberies. Most took place on the street, with incidents with handguns happening at 4600 Frankford Ave. (July 23) and 4300 Cottman Ave. (Aug. 1) and vehicles parked at 3300 Aldine St. (July 27) and 4100 Roosevelt Blvd. (Aug. 2), and incidents with no weapons at 1600 Margaret St. (July 22), 2800 St. Vincent St. (July 22), 4300 Magee Ave. (July 30), 2900 Princeton Ave. (July 31) and a vehicle parked at 1900 E. Cheltenham Ave. (Aug. 1). Angel Washington, 35, was arrested following a robbery at a SEPTA bus/trolley at 5200 Frankford Ave. (July 21).

There were 25 aggravated assaults, which resulted in eight arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 4600 Wellington St. (July 22), 1900 Haworth St. (July 22), 5200 Marlow St. (July 23), 4300 Van Kirk St. (July 26, Joel Ramirez-Rivera, 33), 5200 Hawthorne St. (July 26), 7800 Cottage St. (July 26), 6100 Vandike St. (July 27), twice at 6200 Tackawanna St. (July 28, Mark Haire, 27) and 2300 Church St. (Aug. 1); with a knife at 4600 Griscom St. (July 21); with other weapons at 6500 Brous Ave. and 1400 Robbins Ave. (July 23, Channon Edwards, 23) and 4900 Penn St. (July 28); with no weapons at 5200 Frankford Ave. (July 21, Luis Rodriguez, 24, and Brandon Schwendiman, 22) and 400 Levick St. (July 23); and a domestic assault at 6500 Brous Ave. (July 23, Channon Edwards, 23). Assaults at private residences included domestic incidents at 2100 Kennedy St. (July 31), 1500 Church St. (Aug. 2), 3300 Longshore Ave. (July 25), 4800 Mulberry St. (July 29) and 3400 Chippendale Ave. (July 31, Richard Lohn, 50), and incidents with handguns at 4700 Oakmont St. (July 21), 4600 Mulberry St. (July 25, Terron Lawhorn, 26) and 2100 Kennedy St. (July 31).

There were five burglaries, which took place at private residences at 5200 Sylvester St. (July 20), 5400 Sylvester St. (July 24), 1800 Bridge St. (July 22) and 3200 Guilford St. (July 27). Another burglary took place on the street at 4300 Frankford Ave. on July 20.

There were 61 thefts, which targeted 31 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and eight stolen vehicle tags), 15 street thefts, nine businesses, three private residences, two apartment houses and a SEPTA elevated station. Two arrests were made.
