Orleans Technical College recently held its annual graduation ceremony for more than 300 individuals pursuing careers in the building and construction trades field. Most have already secured jobs with Orleans Tech’s employer partners.
Former Eagles defensive tackle Hollis Thomas was guest speaker at the ceremony, which took place at the Philadelphia Ballroom, 2014 Hornig Road. Thomas spoke about his journey to the NFL as an undrafted free agent. He signed with the Eagles in 1996 and played for 10 years. He delivered a message of determination and second chances.
“Don’t let anyone tell you what you can’t do,” he said. “Take advantage of an opportunity when presented.”
Students graduated with credentials in various disciplines, including electricity, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry.
