Scholarship money for local schools

Archbishop Ryan will be among the schools receiving scholarship money.

The Bridge Educational Foundation, through the support of Malady & Wooten, WM (formerly known as Waste Management) and RBC Capital Markets, last week donated $316,000 of EITC and OSTC scholarships to Philadelphia schools during an event at St. Hubert’s Connelly Arts and Design Center.

Scholarship funds are made possible through the state Educational Improvement Tax Credit and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit programs.

“This is an amazing, amazing program,” said Natalie Nutt, executive director of the Bridge Educational Foundation.

Among those in attendance were state Sens. Joe Picozzi and Tina Tartaglione and City Councilman Mike Driscoll.

Local schools that were represented included St. Hubert, Archbishop Ryan, Father Judge and Nazareth Academy high schools; Christ the King, St. Anselm, St. Cecilia, St. Dominic and St. Katherine of Siena elementary schools; All Saints’ Episcopal Day School; Cedar Grove Christian Academy; Federation Early Learning Services; Kencrest Early Learning Center; and St. Lucy School for Children with Visual Impairments. ••
