The Bloomsburg University Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry held its annual end-of-the-year awards ceremony. Department chairman Gregory Zimmerman presented awards to top students. Eric Hilbert was given the American Institute of Chemists Outstanding Senior Award.

Essence Hall was one of 43 Albright College students who presented scholarly work at the 20th annual Berks County Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference. Working with faculty mentor Keith Feigenson, Hall presented a poster titled, “Motivational Influences: Fitness Center Preference Based on Size and Member Capacity.”

The Bloomsburg University College of Liberal Arts held its annual end-of-the-year awards. The department recognized 30 students for their outstanding achievements during the year. Patricia Millan was the recipient of the Adam Smith Award in Economics.

Alyssa Kates was honored during Albright College’s end-of-year Honors and Awards Ceremony. A graduate of Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush, Kates earned the Natalie Olson Memorial Award and the Outstanding Service to Psychology Department. She is studying biology.

Steven Anderson was one of 10 Kutztown University graduate students to be inducted into the 2019 class of Alpha Epsilon Lambda, National Honor Society for Graduate and Professional Students. Graduate students seeking membership in the Gamma Chapter at Kutztown University must have completed a minimum of 12 graduate semester hours, attain a graduate quality point average in the upper 35 percent of all graduate students currently enrolled at the university and provide a record of leadership and service to the campus and the community.

Wilkes University awarded 797 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at its 72nd spring commencement ceremonies on May 18. Shayna Fehrle received a degree in elementary and early childhood education.

Kutztown University outfielder Tamara Jennings, a Nazareth Academy graduate, was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Jennings received a degree in computer science and finished her undergraduate work with a 3.89 GPA. She’s enrolled in Kutztown’s five-year computer science/information technology combined B.S./M.S. program and is set to pursue her master’s degree. She hit .416 with 72 hits, 50 runs scored, 13 doubles, three triples, seven home runs, 14 stolen bases and 51 runs batted in, with a .647 slugging percentage and .458 on-base percentage.

Nhu Nguyen was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Nguyen was initiated at University of Delaware.

Bucknell University presented degrees to nearly 900 graduates at commencement. Dayane Da Silva earned a degree in English – Literary Studies. Rosca Saunders earned a degree in economics.

Ashley Sonntag graduated from Gettysburg College on May 19 with a bachelor of arts degree.

Ten members of the Kutztown University track and field programs earned All-Atlantic Region status, including Megan Kirn, who finished second in the javelin to qualify for the NCAA Division II championships in Kingsville, Texas. ••
