Mayfair Civic gets a new president

The Mayfair Civic Association on Monday night considered two zoning cases during a Zoom meeting.

One proposal was for a real estate office, with dwellings on the second and third floors, at 3101 Cottman Ave. A Zoning Board of Adjustment hearing is scheduled for Nov. 18. The applicant and the civic association agreed that more information on the project was needed. That information could come at an Oct. 19 zoning meeting or a regularly scheduled Nov. 16 civic meeting.

The other proposal was for legalization of a two-vehicle carport at a home at 7424 Revere St. Some people on the call were concerned about the size of the structure and that the owner plans to perform work such as brakes. The civic told the owner he would not win its backing, encouraging him to come back with a new plan on Oct. 19. The man declined, and will likely take his case to a ZBA hearing on Nov. 4.

In other news, Donny Smith stepped down as civic association president to concentrate on his job as executive director of the Mayfair Business Improvement District. The new civic president is Mike Serverson. ••
