Crime log: Oct. 21, 2020

The Northeast Times provides an overview of crimes reported to the four police districts in the Northeast. The details are based on reports compiled by the Northeast Detectives division of the Philadelphia Police Department.

Sept. 28 through Oct. 11

As reported by Northeast Detectives. Does not include homicides, sexual assaults, narcotics offenses or other specific crimes investigated by special police units. All locations listed by block, not by exact address.

2nd District Police

There were eight robberies. Incidents on the street with handguns happened at 800 Carver St. (Oct. 1), 5600 Rising Sun Ave. (Oct. 5) and 1200 Van Kirk St. (Oct. 5), while incidents with no weapons happened at 400 Adams Ave. (Sept. 30), 7900 Rockwell Ave. (Oct. 2) and 2100 Glenview St. (Oct. 3). Other robberies took place at a private residence at 6400 Eastwood St. (Sept. 28) with a handgun and at a vehicle parked at 2400 Faunce St. (Oct. 11) with a knife.

There were 18 aggravated assaults, which resulted in five arrests. Assaults on the street with handguns happened at 1200 Comly St. (Sept. 30), 1400 Saint Vincent St. (Oct. 2), 7000 Rising Sun Ave. (Oct. 3), twice at 4600 Roosevelt Blvd. (Oct. 8) and 700 Landis St. (Oct. 9); domestic assaults happened at 7800 Lorna Drive (Sept. 29, Raymond Schonewolf, 57) and 6000 Oxford Ave. (Sept. 29, Mariah Johnson, 19); and an assault with another weapon that happened at 4800 Langdon St. (Oct. 3). Assaults at private residences included incidents with knives at 6500 Souder St. (Oct. 8), twice at 1200 Elbridge St. (Oct. 11, Julio Pop, 31) and 7200 Tabor Ave. (Oct. 11) and domestic assaults at 6600 Rutland St. (Oct. 9, John Dunne, 39), 1300 Saint Vincent St. (Oct. 1) and 7100 Souder St. (Oct. 5, Jamil Wynder, 27). Assaults at apartment houses included a domestic assault at 4800 Roosevelt Blvd. on Oct. 8 and an instance with a handgun at 2100 Glendale Ave. on Oct. 4.

There were seven burglaries, which took place at private residences at 6900 Kindred St. (Sept. 28), 6900 Large St. (Oct. 3) and 1400 Vista St. (Oct. 7). Other burglaries took place at a gas station at 800 Cottman Ave. (Oct. 7), a commercial garage at 100 Comly St. (Oct. 9), a church/synagogue at 6500 Bustleton Ave. (Oct. 9) and a storage facility at 6200 Oxford Ave. (Oct. 2).

There were 59 thefts, which targeted 24 vehicles (including seven stolen vehicle tags), 22 businesses, seven street thefts, two bicycles, a private residence, an apartment house, a hotel/motel and a nursing/retirement home. Four arrests were made.

7th Police District

There were three robberies. Martin August, 35, and Barbara Chiappinelli, 30, were arrested Oct. 6 following a robbery on the street at 11500 Roosevelt Blvd. with a handgun. Other robberies include a purse snatching at the intersection of Hoffnagle Street and Loretto Avenue on Sept. 29, and a robbery of a chain food store with a handgun at 8100 Castor Ave. on Oct. 8.

The only reported aggravated assault happened on the street at 12000 Roosevelt Blvd. on Oct. 1 and involved a handgun.

There were no reported burglaries.

There were 39 thefts, which targeted 18 vehicles (including a stolen vehicle tag), 11 businesses, five street thefts, two private residences, an apartment house, a bicycle and an unlisted location. Four arrests were made. In addition, three vehicles were reported stolen, and three were recovered.

8th Police District

The three reported robberies happened at an apartment house at 8100 Ditman St. on Oct. 9, a private residence at 3500 Kyle Road on Oct. 11 and an unlisted location at 100 Franklin Mills Blvd. on Oct. 1.

There were eight aggravated assaults. Kenny Campbell, 28, was arrested Oct. 9 following two assaults on the street at 200 Greendale Road, and Shamir Simpkins, 26, was arrested Oct. 6 following an assault at a prison facility at 8300 State Road. Other assaults happened twice on the street at 4600 Kendrick St. (Oct. 8) with a handgun, twice on the street at 12000 Abby Road (Oct. 9) and at a private residence at 10200 W. Keswick Road (Sept. 29).

There were three burglaries, which happened at a private residence at 3200 Comly Road (Oct. 11), an apartment house at 2800 Welsh Road (Oct. 10) and a restaurant at 3100 Grant Ave. (Oct. 2). A burglary attempt took place at a private residence at 4500 Tolbut St. on Oct. 5.

There were 50 thefts, which targeted 28 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and three stolen vehicle tags), 17 businesses, a street theft, an apartment house, a parking lot/garage, a cargo theft and a nursing/retirement home. Four arrests were made. In addition, nine vehicles were reported stolen, and seven were recovered. 

15th Police District

There were 29 robberies, which resulted in four people arrested. Rafeeq Miller, 26, was arrested Oct. 4 after four robberies on the street at 2600 Robbins St. (Oct. 4), at a gas station at 4800 Tacony St. (Oct. 4) and at food stores at 2900 Cottman Ave. (Oct. 4) and 6900 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 4). Robberies on the street with handguns happened at 5000 Rutland St. (Sept. 30), 4400 Oakland St. (Oct. 2), 4600 Hedge St. (Oct. 3), 5500 Tulip St. (Oct. 3), 5200 Gillespie St. (Oct. 3), 2800 Robbins St. 4800 Comly St. (Oct. 7) and 3300 Saint Vincent St. (Oct. 7); a robbery with a knife at 4400 Hedge St. (Oct. 5); robberies with other weapons at 4300 Paul St. (Sept. 30, Shanon Cooper, 18) and the intersection of Lesher and Bridge streets (Oct. 5); and robberies with no weapons at 4000 Greeby St. (Sept. 29), 4300 Stiles St. (Sept. 29, Ja’ara Baker, 21, and Amber Whalen, 20), 1600 Granite St. (Sept. 29), 6300 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 1), 1500 Arrott St. (Oct. 1), 1600 Orthodox St. (Oct. 2) and 5300 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 8); and at vehicles parked at 5900 Charles St. (Sept. 28) and 4500 Longshore Ave. (Oct. 6). Robberies with handguns took place at private residences at 4700 Vista St. (Sept. 29), 3100 Unruh Ave. (Oct. 6), 1000 Fillmore St. (Oct. 9), 3100 Unruh Ave. (Oct. 10) and with no weapon at 4100 Paul St. (Oct. 8). A chain retail location was robbed with a handgun Oct. 3. 

There were 22 aggravated assaults, which resulted in nine people being arrested. Assaults on the street included domestic assaults at 4100 Barnett St. (Oct. 10), 1300 Foulkrod St. (Oct. 7, Helen Cyler, 46) and the intersection of Frankford Avenue and Dyre Street (Oct. 4); assaults with handguns happened at 1800 Harrison St. (Sept. 28), 6400 Edmund St. (Oct. 1), 5000 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 2, Marc A. Thompson, 56), 1600 Granite St. (Oct. 7), 3000 Robbins St. (Oct. 8, Maria E. Mendez, 30), 4900 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 8) and 4900 Darrah St. (Oct. 11); assaults with knives happened at 1500 Church St. (Sept. 30, Stephanie Hudson, 33) and 1500 Overington St. (Oct. 11, Charlene Robinson, 60); assaults with other weapons happened at 4800 Ditman St. (Oct. 3), 5000 Hawthorne St. (Oct. 6) and 5900 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 9, Tymir Foster, 19, and Khaseem Love, 18); and an assault with no weapon happened at 5000 Ditman St. (Oct. 8). Assaults at private residences included domestic incidents at 5100 Leiper St. (Sept. 29, Rashad Williams, 27), 5800 Akron St. (Oct. 2, Albert Jones, 30), 4000 Comly St. (Sept. 28) and 1200 Harrison St. (Oct. 9), and an assault with a handgun at 3200 Cottman Ave. (Oct. 4). A domestic assault took place at an apartment house at 5800 Hegerman St. on Oct. 4. 

There were eight burglaries, which happened at private residences at 4500 Bleigh Ave. (Oct. 3), 4000 Meridian St. (Sept. 28), 7100 Glenloch St. (Sept. 28), 6000 Torresdale Ave. (Oct. 3) and 6600 Glenloch St. (Oct. 7). Other burglaries happened at a retail location at 7300 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 7), a department store at 4400 Frankford Ave. (Oct. 8) and a storage facility at 6300 Tacony St. (Oct. 2).

There were 81 thefts, which targeted 43 vehicles (including two stolen car phones and 17 stolen vehicle tags), 20 businesses, 14 street thefts (including a purse snatching), three private residences and a SEPTA elevated station.
