Zoning topic of next Frankford Civic meeting

Frankford Civic Association members last week were supposed to be asked to support a local businessman’s plan to put a snack bar in his Torresdale Avenue car wash, but the business owner didn’t make a presentation.

Benedetto DiCicco didn’t speak at the civic’s Feb. 6 session because he has to get some paperwork together that’s now incomplete, said Pete Specos, the civic association’s president and zoning officer. On Feb. 7, Specos said DiCicco needs an OK from the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment to proceed with his plan for his property on the 4300 block of Torresdale Avenue, and a hearing before the board was slated for this month.

Specos said the civic association will ask the zoners to hold DiCicco’s hearing later. He added that the group will put DiCicco’s plan on its March 6 agenda. The association’s meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the second-floor meeting room of Aria Health’s Frankford campus, 4900 Frankford Ave.

DiCicco’s property is zoned for industrial use, so DiCicco needed a variance a few years ago to put in the car wash. He asked for and got the association’s backing for that variance application. ••
